SUSIE HANNA

Susie is an experienced Masters Level Social Worker (MSW), a Masters Level School Counselor (MEd), a Certified Sex Addictions Therapist (CSAT), and a level 1 Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFT). Susie has over 15 years of experience working with couples, adolescents and individuals struggling with varying mental health or addictive issues. Susie graduated from The Ohio State University in 1999 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. After working in the field of social work at the Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Susie decided to take some time off to raise her children. She later attended George Mason University and received a second Master’s in Education with a concentration in School Counseling. Susie worked as a school counselor for some time, but realized her heart was in the field of private practice, supporting couples and individuals through individual psychotherapy work. Susie has a passion for working with those struggling with sex addiction, trauma and partners of sex addicts. She co-leads a weekly group that supports betrayed partners of sex addicts. She enjoys supporting emerging adults as they navigate next steps after high school or college and supporting individuals and families through the very unpredictable process of adulthood. Susie enjoys couples work as well, and is completing her training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an evidenced based therapeutic process that supports couples in distress.

Susie has expertise supporting those struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, sex addiction, trauma, partner conflict, marital distress and parenting concerns. Susie understands the challenges that life can throw at us and is honored to support individuals through the process of growth and change.

THERAPY EXPERIENCE: 

Psychotherapist & Resident Social Worker - NoVA Counseling Center, Reston, Virginia
To provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families and groups using various counseling techniques and therapeutic modalities.

School Counselor - Fairfax, Virginia     
Provided educational and mental health support to students. Supported teachers and collaborated with school administration to better empower struggling students.

Social Work Coordinator - Fairfax, Virginia     
Provided social work support to patients of The Hope Clinic. Managed a team of 7 social workers and case managers.

Social Worker - Columbus, Ohio     
Provided therapy and case management to children and families in the greater Columbus area. Focus was on crisis intervention, addiction, depression, anxiety and parental issues.
